Mr. Mereweather

Welcome

Welcome to the Resource Room!  The students in the Resource Room are supported by Ms. Phinney in the morning, and Ms. Teno in the afternoon.

Primary and Junior students attend in the morning, with Intermediate students attending in the afternoon.  Our focus is learning in Mathematics and Language.

Technology is a great resource for students with learning differences.  We will use computers for instruction and learning.  In order for students to be eligible for SEA equipment (laptops and supporting devices), we need to be able to show that a) the use of technology improves student learning; b) computers are used regularly; c) they have the skills to use it; and d) the student is responsible to take care of the equipment.

Students are welcome to bring in their own laptops to school for word processing purposes.  They are not to be used in class for listening to music, playing games, or watching videos for entertainment.  They are to be used as a learning tool only.

Homework

There will be other homework from time to time (mostly finish-up work if students have not used their class time wisely), but their daily homework is to read for 20 minutes.

Students also need to work on typing/keyboarding skills.  They will have many opportunities to use technology, but finding the time to specifically practice typing/keyboarding skills is difficult.  This could be something done at home on a home computer if you have one.  Please see the "Links" tab to connect with some good typing practice sites.
